I started my diving
adventures here in the U.S.
First open water was done in a quarry lake in Maryland-Pennsylvania
border (PDIC certification).
The water was in mid 50’s and it’s in early March.
What do you know…
About a year later, I was diving in Sumbawa and what
a difference! This
were actually my first tropical dives before my advance certification
in Teluk Jakarta, Thousand Islands (PADI certification).
My CMAS instructor friend (Yayan) was already setting
me up for the certification.
So, my advance dives were easy compared to those done
in Sumbawa water. After
many dives between Lombok, Sumbawa and Flores I still did
some lake diving back in the States.
These were done around Virginia, West Virginia and
Maryland area. Mainly,
this spare diving is done to sharpen my overall skill and
to get new knowledge in diving (i.e. high altitude diving). Since this is a tropical water site, my cold-water experience
is by far no comparison.
I enjoy diving very much, especially in the tropics.
So far, Flores is the very best.
It is often very tricky to dive but sure worth all
the efforts. So,
local experienced dive master is your best bet for enjoyable
diving and I consider it as a must.
